Henry Akinwande was born October 12 in 1965 in Lagos, Nigeria. Boxing takes in England, where his family moved to live. Career in amateur boxing, though different from a professional, but has been successful. In 1986-1987, Henry was second in the championship of England, 1988-1989, became the champion.

But the "gold" he has not received, although he was a candidate for victory at the 1988 Olympics in Seoul. Henry in the first round lost to Arnold Vanderlide from Germany.

After re-conquest of the title of champion of England decided to go to the professionals. 4 October in 1989, the first professional boxing match against Carlton Hidki, whom Henry knocked out in the first round.

He then scored 16 wins in 16 fights for four years. The first fight for the championship belt was fighting against Axen Schultz for the title of European Champion. But the battle ended in a draw, and the title remained vacant.

18 March in 1993 in the battle against Jim Taider Henry became British champion among champions. 1 May of the same year was re-encounter with the German Schulz for the European title, Henry won on points.

According to the ratings the next desyatileniya he gets a chance to fight for the world title among professionals against Jeremy Williams and wins by KO in the third round. After this followed two successful title defenses.

But 12 July in 1997 in a unification bout against world champion Lennox Lewis, Akinwande loses and loses his championship belt.

After that, he tried repeatedly to return to the elite of boxing in the ring and spent another 21 fight in 3 of them lost. But was never able to regain the world title.
