N. Mark Bernes was born (8) September 21 in 1911 in the city of Chernigov province Nizhin. Real name — Neumann. At 17, he took the pseudonym under which he became famous, the young man left home in search of acting glory. After graduating from the theater courses in Kharkov, Mark Bernes started playing in the theater, and from 1935 to star in the movie.
The film "Two Soldiers", where the actor played the Arcadia Dzybine brought Bernes glory. It is in this film opened Bernes talent as an outstanding singer — soulful song "Dark Night" instantly became popular.
In cinema and theater Bernes created memorable images, but this popularity brought him the song. Bernes was the famous singer, and dozens of exercise of his songs entered the golden fund of Soviet music.
