Day Corps of Engineers

The history of engineering troops are from the time of the Decree 573 Peter of on January 21 in 1701 on the establishment in Moscow "Schools Pushkarsky order." The school trained artillery officers and military engineers. Graduates of the "School Pushkarsky order" since 1702 have completed the first minernye units of the regular Russian army.

on January 16 in 1712 Peter I ordered to separate the engineering school of the school Pushkarsky order and expand it. Followed by his decree was created and the St. Petersburg School of Engineering (1719). And after 4 years of school was moved to Moscow to St. Petersburg and merged with St. Petersburg. These schools prepare non-commissioned officers and chief engineer troops.

To increase the attractiveness of these schools and to reinforce the importance of engineering troops Peter I in his Table of Ranks 1722 Officers Corps of Engineers reckons to rank higher officers of infantry and cavalry.

Central Authority Office of the Corps of Engineers was the main artillery and fortification. In 1753, Chief of the School of Engineering was appointed engineer-general , the famous "Negro of Peter the Great," the great-grandfather .

Army Corps of Engineers took part in all the battles to defend the Fatherland. Knowledge, courage and bravery of military engineers in no small measure contributed to the successful conduct of military operations in The War of 1812, the defense of Sevastopol (1854 — 1855), during the Russian-Japanese War (1904-1905 years), and the First World War (1914-1918 years). Significant contributions were made by the Corps of Engineers and the elimination of the consequences of Chernobyl.
