annually 2 June in Azerbaijan marks professional holiday of all who work in the field of civil aviation — Day of Azerbaijani Civil Aviation. This holiday was established by the Decree of the President of the Azerbaijan Republic on May 18 in 2006.
Choosing holiday dates was based on the fact that the June 2, 1938 in Azerbaijan established the first aviation group, which initiated the development of civil aviation in the Republic.
October 9 in 1992 Azerbaijan became one of the full members of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). In November 2002, became a member of the European Civil Aviation Conference (ECAC) and the years of active cooperation with international civil aviation organizations.
Currently, Azerbaijan from 29 countries signed a number of intergovernmental agreements on air services with 22 nations agreement initialed or agreed by experts from 12 countries are negotiating the establishment of such agreements. In total, Azerbaijan joined the 22 documents of the International Civil Aviation.
In 1995, the Republic the "smithy" training for civil aviation — National Aviation Academy of Azerbaijan Republic. The main objective of the Academy is to provide the needs of airlines, businesses and organizations of civil aviation of Azerbaijan Republic qualified aviation experts
Academy received certificate of the Interstate Aviation Committee (IAC) for the right to training and retraining of civil aviation.
