International Day of Climate

15 May the world marks the International Day of Climate. The establishment of this holiday was a response to the call of meteorologists climate protection as an important resource that affects the well-being of present and future generations.

Saving climate — one of the global challenges that humanity faces today. Global warming, increased ozone layer, natural disasters, changing weather conditions on the planet — all of which lead to a deterioration of the Earth's climate and, as a consequence, have a negative impact on food, life and property safety of the people is very sad impact on the natural resources and balanced development of the state.

Modern science can not answer the question of how quickly comes catastrophic climate change in the event of a further rise in temperature on Earth. However, according to environmentalists and meteorologists to delay these changes humanity quite a force.

The main problems that lead to irreversible climate change on the planet, is increasing the concentration of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. This phenomenon was discussed at a global level in 1992 — the so-called Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro. Representatives from more than 180 countries (including Russia and the former Soviet Union) have signed the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). This agreement is to define a framework of action to stabilize greenhouse gases in the atmosphere at a level that does not threaten the Earth's climate system, the global human impact.

At the end of 1997 at the third Conference of Parties to the UNFCCC, held in Kyoto (Japan), in addition to the Convention was adopted by the already famous Kyoto Protocol — international document that commits developed countries and countries with economies in transition to reduce or stabilize greenhouse gas emissions in 2008-2012 compared with 1990.

10 years later, in December 2007 in Bali (Indonesia), there was another UN conference on the issues of climate change. The participants — representatives of more than 190 nations — have signed an international agreement calling for world leaders to take the necessary measures to ensure that the business sector has reduced emissions of carbon dioxide.

Save the Earth's climate depends on each person on the planet. To contribute is not so difficult. This can, for example, rarely use the car to use in your apartment saving light sources, to participate in the planting of trees and protect green spaces. Seemingly small things ... But these "little things", multiplied by the population of the planet, is of paramount importance.
