Every year in late April — early May in Marmaris hosts the International Maritime Festival. Turkish city was chosen as the venue of the meeting is no accident — the resort has long been a well-deserved reputation of one of the most popular centers of marine tourism.
Festival, starting in 2005, is supported by the Provincial Government of Mugla, Marmaris Municipality, Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey, the Maritime Chamber, the Union of Turkish travel agencies and several state and public organizations. One of the goals of the holiday — to popularize the history and culture of Turkey, both within the country and abroad.
Annually on marine festivals in Marmaris dozens of ships arriving from around the world. Among them — the military, passenger, training ships. Among the participants can be seen not only high-tech craft, but also the elegant sailboats.
The holiday program includes competitions in the "sea" sports — racing boats, swimming, diving, tug-of-war. Of great interest to visitors of the festival caused demonstrations of combat units.
And in the middle of May, there is an international festival of sailing (Photo: DinoZ, Shutterstock) at the Marmaris seafront and town squares in the days of maritime festival concerts are held. They involve Turkish teams, as well as artists from other countries.
And in mid-May in the Bay of Marmaris starts another maritime festival — International Festival of yachting. It is held in Turkey for more than 20 years. As they say, the bay of Marmaris is the best suited for all types of boats and yachts. The festival will take place yachting regatta, rowing competitions in sports, an exhibition of photographs of the underwater world, and concerts. Foodies love to visit banquets, where you can taste delicious seafood.
