December 19 the international community observes the International Day of the poor.
According to international experts, at the end of the 20th century, about a quarter of the world's population, that is one and a half billion people who ekes out a miserable existence. In this regard, the UN has adopted several programs that aim to eradicate poverty.
First poverty eradication programs began operating in early 2000, however, while the number of those living below the poverty line is not reduced.
The United Nations considers poverty as "a state of prolonged absence from the necessary resources to ensure a satisfactory way of life ." Poverty means not only a lack of money, but the lack of decent work, comfortable housing, access to good education and health care.
