On this day in 1947, the General Assembly adopted resolution the partition of Palestine. In 1977, the UN General Assembly decided to observe annually November 29 as the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People (International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People).
Excerpt message UN Secretary-General on the occasion of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People:
«Today I — with those around the world expressed profound solidarity with the Palestinian people, whose suffering continues. He still does not have a state and oppressed. Expressing its solidarity with him, I do not neglect the suffering of the people of Israel. He also deprived of security and constantly confronts terrorism.
The terrible events of the last three years and the difficult situation that currently exists in the region should be a clear proof to all that the greater the harm to the parties deal with each other , the greater the damage they cause to themselves and leave the less chance for a peaceful settlement.
Israel's actions, including extrajudicial executions, the use of heavy weapons against the civilian population, destruction of homes, the continued building of settlements and the construction of the security wall , intruding deeply into Palestinian territory — this is only deepened the suffering of the Palestinians and strengthened them with a sense of helplessness.
This has undermined attempts to curb the violence and promoted hatred and anger against the Israelis, thus further pushing one the day when Israel will live without fear, within secure and recognized borders.
On the other hand, the Palestinians bombing bombers in Israel led to the fact that the accidental victims of senseless and brutal attacks were getting no the innocent civilians. This heinous actions can not be justified, and they deserve a permanent and unconditional condemnation. They undermined the efforts to build bridges of reconciliation and trust between the two nations, thus further pushing back the day when Palestinians each live in peace and security within the borders of their own state.
