One of the tools to help achieve this goal was the World Pneumonia Day. On this day, health care organizing preventive measures, conduct medical examinations. In addition, many volunteers tell people about pneumonia and risk involved, handing out leaflets and booklets.

In addition, in 2009, the World Health Organization and UNICEF announced a "Global Action Plan for the prevention of pneumonia and the fight against it. " The purpose of this plan — intensification of the struggle with pneumonia combined with measures to protect children, the prevention and treatment of disease.

By the way, children are suffering from pneumonia in the first place. This disease is the main cause of mortality worldwide minors. Every year it claims the lives of 1.4 million children under five years of age. That's more than AIDS, malaria and measles combined.

Pneumonia is common everywhere, but most of all it affects children in South Asia and Africa. However, the disease can be prevented by relatively simple measures such as immunization and good nutrition. Therefore it is especially important to periodically remind the world of pneumonia and motivate people to take action that can stop the disease: to disseminate information, to cooperate with the authorities to make donations to immunization. That's what volunteers are actively involved in the World Pneumonia Day.

And all the caring can express their solidarity, even wearing ... blue jeans. This garment has become a symbol of the World Day against pneumonia.
