Teacher's Day in China

annually 10 September in China celebrated the Teacher's Day. On this day in China celebrate all educators. The formal establishment of this holiday was made on January 21 in 1985. The main purpose of the appearance of this date on the calendar was the desire of the authorities of China to raise the prestige of the intellectual work lost during the Cultural Revolution.

The modern education system in China is built on the European model. Compulsory education starts at the age of six and lasts for nine years. Six years of these is the primary school, three years — the first stage of secondary education. After that, everyone should go to college to unlearn another three years in the so-called "high school", having passed the last stage of secondary education. In areas where this is not possible, children graduating from primary school, are no entrance exams to enroll in schools of other districts.
